Canoeing the James River

We offer canoeing and kayaking for all experience levels. You can rent canoes and we also have a few kayaks. We'll outfit you with paddles and life jackets and also show you the best spots on the river for your experience level.

Rental is $42/day/canoe. Lodge guests inquire for special rate. Deposits required by credit card against lost or damaged equipment. Release form required

As for trips you have a few options; take a short (1.5 hour); or long (6 hour) canoe float to our river frontage(leave from Joshua Falls outside of Lynchburg) or from our river frontage (3-5 hours to Bent Creek, 15 to James River State Park). (Portage available, fee required)

They would go nuts on that river. The James River is pristine riffles/rapids/pool water situated in the scenic Blue Ridge hills of Central Virginal and features big unsuspecting Wild Carp to 40 lbs. The James is prime Small Mouth Bass water and has produced State Record fish to 7 lbs plus. An added Bonus - Flathead Cattish to 50 lbs. and willing Channel Catfish to 20. - JM - England
